2 x 160kW variable
speed drives in bespoke control panels were installed to control
the main quenching fan motors at a Merseyside Glass Plant.
The glass production machine PLC was re-configured to control
the variable speed drives instead of the previous inefficient
mechanical guide vane control. Significant energy savings
were achieved together with the added bonus of reduced operating
noise levels.
